Perce with his budgie
1962
oil on composition board
81 x 29 cm
Artist's Statement:
Originally a portrait of Perce talking to his pet budgie on his finger, with a fuel stove in the background, this is a remaining fragment after the painting was maliciously destroyed by Dudley Anderson (my first husband) who cut up my paintings on masonite with a saw to line the walls of our flat in the early 1960s. This fragment was found covering a fireplace at the artist's former home (11 Hereford St., Glebe) in 1972.
