I wanted to capture the vastness of the desert from the vantage point of a hill with an uninterrupted view as far as the horizon. I painted the grass blowing in the wind with spontaneous brush strokes. This is one of many outback landscapes I painted when I went home to Broken Hill, during holidays from Art School in Adelaide. My parents would drive me to a remote location with my art equipment and a flagon of water, picking me up at the end of the day.
