Yin and Yang / Symbiosis

My first sandstone carving. The contrasting colours in the stone, ochre and white, inspired me to carve a 3-D version of yin and yang. The opposing symbols are interlocked: one has a white head and ochre tail, the other an ochre head and white tail. I made a tiny rough plasticine maquette to work from. Instead of polishing the surface, I retained the scutch-comb texture.
