Artist's Statement:

From Draw Like da VinciMona Lisa probably commenced life as a series of pinpricks from a cartoon. [A cartoon is a drawing the size of the size of the actual painting.] The cartoon was pinpricked to transfer the outlines to the surface of fresco or wood panel … Notice how the re-instatement of the loggia pillars improves the composition. Exposure of a silverpoint drawing to the sun speeds the patination process, changing the silver from grey to brown.
