From Draw Like Da Vinci: Drawing the extremitites only of an animal or a person, so that the head and limbs emerge from the side of the page, creates mystery. The viewer's imagination is stimulated to expand beyond the page to complete the image. To draw animal fur, suggest it with a few lines rather than drawing a maze of hairs. The directions of the underlying bones and muscles can be indicated by occasional lines and shading between the fur. Avoid the tendency to fill in the pay pads – filling in, like colouring in, flattens shapes. Treat the rounded pads with the full range of tone.
