Artist's Statement:

From Draw Like [Leonardo] da Vinci: What's for breakfast? Draw an arrangement on a table of what you have for breakfast. You could include a mug, foreshortened fork and spoon, grapefruit, bowl and eggs (no bacon – our master was vegetarian!). Use your preferred medium; you could try silverpoint. Before commencing, remember to take many breaks from drawing to refresh your mind as our master advised:

Every now and then go away and have a little relaxation, for then when you come back to the work your judgement will be surer … go some distance away, because then the work appears smaller, and more of it can be taken in at a glance, and a lack of harmony and proportion … is more readily seen.

Leonardo realized that the mind is not capable of continuous applicaion and intense concentration, and that it needs a break from time to time.
