Limpet Losing its Footing, 2024
sandstone, pebbles, cast base
27 x 38 x 38 cm

An unusual block of sandstone with two distinctive layers of sediment was the inspiration for this sculpture. The earth colours and patterns on top resembled a limpet shell, with the white stone beneath being ideal for carving foot bones. The idea of a limpet, known for its strong clinging foot, losing its grip is a reflection on the effects of climate change. The skeletal foot implies that we humans are not exempt from losing our footing on earth.
