Artist's Statement:
From Draw Like da Vinci, p. 39: Light and shade - Leonardo da Vinci wrote and illustrated six books on light and shade. In order to grade the density of shadows, Leonardo varied the gaps between his hatching lines. The illustration here is based on his research (it has been re-orientated for the right-hander).
