This portrait of myself cycling and framed in a wheel symbolises the cycle of life. Realising that most of my life is behind me, I pedal frantically, my lips forming the word 'Go' as I hear my Grandchildren spurring me on. Although desperate and wide-eyed, my expression is determined — I struggle to make the most of it, with my health problems pointing threateningly from the perimeter that I ride around. I cycle to defy the stereotype of old age and my balance disability, the result of brain tumour surgery.
