A school of fish and some giant apple cores among the standouts at Harbour Sculpture 2017
There is no shortage of quality artworks on display at this year’s Harbour Sculpture, however the best of the best were acknowledged at the exhibition’s opening night last week.
Seven winners were selected from the 114 spectacular installations with the top prize going to Ingrid Morley, who received $5000 for her outdoor piece, ‘Confessional’.
The other winners were:
- Tracey Dixon First Prize (Inside display) $2000 — Susan Dorothea White ‘To Cut Both Ways’
- URM Sustainability Prize $2500 — Louis Pratt ‘Consumption’
- Hunter Holden High School Prize $1000 — St Scholastica’s College, Glebe ‘Counterbalance’
- Hunter Holden Junior School Prize $500 — Ashfield Public School ‘Woolwich’
- Matt & Meredith Bayfield Affordable Art Prize $1000 — Jacek Wankowski ‘Paua3’
- The Sculptors Society Environmental Award $300 — Leanne Thompson ‘Water Cradle(d)’
Three bonus awards were also handed out on the night, with $300 going to Daniel Kojta ‘Blue Datum (Sydney Harbour)’, Heather Shaw ‘Youthful Essence’ and Rozanna Cabon and Elizabeth Oomens’ ‘Allure’.
Visitors of Harbour Sculpture will also be able to vote for their favourite installations in the AGL People’s Choice Awards.
The top inside and outside sculptures will each be awarded $1000 at a special event on Saturday, April 1.
Harbour Sculpture 2017 is on at Clarkes Point Reserve, Woolwich until Sunday, April 2.
